Yet another member of the so called, "new generation" of supermodels that crop up
in the late 1990's, Yamila became a hit not so much on the runways, but on
magazine covers, in photo shoots, in ad campaigns and most importantly, in
Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit edition. Although tamed compared to the splashiness
of other men's magazines with scantily clad women, Sports Illustrated proved it could still
launch careers, and that it did for Yamila. Yet she didn't need much help, having a
robust beauty all her own that quickly caught the eye of many in the beauty industry.
