Ever since films like Liebestraum and
Mr. Holland's Opus, Alicia has been avoiding
roles that typecast her as a prodigal child because of her accomplished musical talents. Her
big break on the hit television series Cybill showed
she looked more natural playing a normal youth. Since then, her choices have gotten gutsier and
somewhat less mainstream with parts in Urban Legend to
Cecil B. Demented. Even though she was considered
for the Mary Jane role that eventually went to Kirsten Dunst in the blockbuster Spider-Man film, she doesn't
need it to reach a broad market appeal.
